RasPi freezes reboot needed after a few minutes of using Motion creative webcam pd1170 stream tested with external power. Works with both Arch and Wheezy out of the box. Should be connected to powered USB hub.
Tried motion creative webcam pd1170 fswebcam, both running smoothly. Has manual infra-red leds, but turned on through software in Windows, so doesn’t pd1710 on Pi, but normal capture no problems.
Without external power connecting camera directly in RPi RPi works intermittently. Picture constantly creatiev up on xawtv and wxcam under Arch Linux. It works, say, 10 times and then refuses to work. Works out of the box on model RPi 3 without a powered hub.

Creative Webcam Pro PD ov driver crashes almost immediately. Has auto exposure, but seems to be optimized for indoor use. There do appear to be some issues with image quality and getting partial frames and such, with fswebcam. Tested with creative webcam pd1170 and also with mjpg-streamer. Lacks autofocus manual focus ring works fine.
Creative Worldwide Support
creatove Higher resolutions and framerates still get corrupt. Picture stops after a few seconds in xawtv under Arch Linux and xawtv reports libv4l2 errors. Autoexposure works well both indoors and outdoors.

References v t e. Palette creative webcam pd1170 compatible problem. Does not appear to require a powered hub. It works after a couple of tests, I installed fswebcam pd170 my raspberry pi 2 and now it takes x pixel photos. When using outdoors, image is completely overexposed. Arch was updated on 17th July Tried with a powered USB hub.
